Slovak Game Industry Overview
The Slovak Game Developers Association has released an updated version of the catalog dedicated to the Slovak game industry for 2024. The catalog contains an extensive list of active companies, outsourcers, currently developed projects or information about schools, educational initiatives and events related to games in Slovakia. The material also presents detailed economic and geographic statistics, employee information and other quantitative indicators about the domestic games industry.
There are 69 companies with over 1000 employees professionally involved in gaming. The largest company developing games in Slovakia has long remained the Bratislava studio Pixel Federation. Other large companies include Bratislava-based Superscale, PowerPlay Studio, QORPO or Nine Rocks Games, belonging to one of the world's largest game publishers, THQ Nordic. The biggest companies in Košice are Inlogic Software and Games Farm. Up to 65% of all companies are concentrated in Bratislava and its surroundings, while 29% of companies are based in Košice and surrounding areas.
The material published annually by the Slovak Game Developers Association shows that there are dozens of games being developed, ranging from independent projects by smaller studios, to large free-to-play projects for mobile devices, to ambitious premium games on a larger scale.
